"Best News Ever" by Mercy Me
My wife and I saw the Christian band "Mercy Me" last night in concert at the Toyota Center here in Houston, Texas. What an awesome show. They are truly an incredible story and are very talented musicians and songwriters. Beyond that, the lead singer Bart Millard is a very soft, humble, tender Man of God. After going through a day, week, month and the everyday grind of the world telling us that we have to be #1, step on everyone on our way to the top and buy this or buy that and it will make you truly happy, a message like we received last night is a breath of fresh air.
The lady that sat next to me at the concert was drinking a glass of wine. White wine. Man did I struggle with alcohol throughout my life and white wine was one of my drinks of choice. I could smell it all the way into my soul. Now I don't know what this lady was struggling with. I don't know what kind of pain she was going through. She may not have even have been an alcoholic. But God...I believe God put her next to me to remind me of where I was.
I have to tell you, I cried almost the whole show. As soon as I heard the first lyric of the first song a wave of emotion came over me and I just started bawling. I could just feel relief, thankfulness, gratitude and pure love flow through me like I can't even tell you. You see I remember several years ago seeing Ozzy Osborne in that same arena and I was very high on drugs and alcohol. Now here I was enjoying a beautiful band while praising and thanking what Jesus has done for me.
I am so very grateful for the Grace of Jesus for what He did on the cross. I am so grateful for artists like Mercy Me who show such vulnerability talking about their pain and struggles of their everyday walk through life. I am so very grateful for Jesus for taking drugs and alcohol out of my life so I can enjoy a show and remember it the next day. I am so very grateful that the works already been done. Now folks that's NOT good news...but The Best News EVER! Thank you Jesus and thank you Mercy Me!
