So many people ask me, "You went to 8 Alcohol and Drug treatment centers and attended AA, NA and CA for 15 years. What was it that changed this time to keep you sober?" This question is a very important one and one that the answer is multi-faceted.
My intention for writing out these Action Steps is to explain the process that took place to deliver me from my addiction to drugs and alcohol. No explanation would be complete without explaining the importance of Speaking in Tongues and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
I first must answer the question that is probably on everyone's mind...Are you for real? The answer is Yes!!!
Hollywood has done a good job of portraying people that speak in tongues as being possessed with some evil spirit. Although that may happen that is not the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit." I also think that people think that speaking in tongues just comes to you. That the Holy Spirit takes over your tongue and you have no control over it. This is not true. YOU have to do the speaking.
So what is Praying in Tongues and what does it mean? First of all I want to let you know that when I was introduced to this I was given a book entitled, "The Walk of the Spirit, The Walk of Power" written by Dave Roberson. This book is easy to read, entertaining and will explain what Praying in Tongues is all about.
When you pray in tongues you are praying a prayer that only God can understand. You are praying the perfect prayer that the Holy Spirit prays "Through You" to Father God. Then Father God Supernaturally aligns the Natural World so things will come to be in the world what your Supernatural Destiny was predestined to be.
The Bible talks about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in several scriptures:
"And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.” Acts 2:4
“Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied.” Acts 19:6
“These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages.” Mark 16:17
“For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious.” 1 Corinthians 14:2
When I pray in tongues I am at peace. I can discern things in my life better and my everyday life just seems to run smoother. If you are interested in a solid recovery program, Praying in Tongues is a Vital part of the process.
